Applying for Public Housing assistance with the Housing Authority of Owensboro is a three-step process:
- Online Pre-Application
- After completing the pre-application, gather and return all the requested documentation to the Housing Authority office preferably within fourteen (14) days but no later than thirty (30) days.
- Once all the requested documentation is returned an appointment will be schedule to complete the full application.
After completing steps 1-3, the Housing Authority will begin the screening process when your name nears the top of the waiting list, including criminal history, rental history, credit history, and verification of income, assets, and deductions.
If you have changes to any information you’ve given during the application process (address, phone number, income sources, claimed preferences, criminal charges, etc.) remember that those changes must be reported to our office – in writing – as soon as they occur. Failure to do so may result in delays or even rejection of your application.
